San Francisco North Beach Jazz Mural

San Francisco Chinatown bbeeman

Last year I spent a weekend in San Francisco enjoying Little Italy and noticed the North Beach Jazz Mural for the first time. What a cool building. Can’t believe I’ve never noticed it before!  The 30 by 40 foot mural was painted in 1987 by Bay Area artist Bill Weber. On the corners of Columbus and Broadway in the North Beach neighborhood it feature three musical legends: Teddy Wilson on the piano, Gene Krupa playing the drums and Benny Goodman with his signature clarinet.

  1. The music of the Big Band era was amazing. I’m glad to see artists are perpetuating the greats of that time.

  2. Thanks for posting! Teddy Wilson is my mother’s first cousin. When I saw the mural, I was thrilled!
